The National Debt Problem
I have a proposal I would like you to consider.
I suggest the nature of national debt is more complex than most have recognised.
A dollar owed to a citizen is not the same as a dollar owed to non-citizen. Could we consider then refinancing the debt of troubled economies, by issuing bonds, with interest payable only to resident citizens........Depending upon the politics of the country in question, it may be necessary to offer it as an alternative to tax increases..... Interest paid by the respective state should be similar to what is currently being paid to banks. So those individuals holding the bonds should not be losing.
I think this is a lot like the *War Bonds* used to finance WWII.
Clearly, it would be important to apply the funds raised to restructure the debt. It would not be possible to apply this to all debt, as much of the debt which is a concern is owed by companies or individuals, but I suggest this would change the situation for the better.
I look forward to receiving your comments.

There have been numerous reports of banks returning to profitability, even while almost all other businesses continue to struggle.

Given what many believe to be a fact, that over the long-term financial returns relate directly risk. If banks are more profitable than other business, what hidden risks are they taking?
This is particularly surprising if we consider the outrageous amounts paid to senior bank management.

Global Warming and Quality of Life
So often the action proposed to reduce Global Warming, also improves the quality of life.
While the concept of global warming is gaining acceptance, there are still individuals who do not believe it. It surprises me that few seem to recognise that so many of the actions, which would reduce the affect of this disputed trend would also improve our quality of life.
The reduced use of cars, the major contribute of greenhouse gases would result in a quieter more relaxed city. Sure public transport is often poor, but it is a chicken or egg question... Which comes first better service or more users. It is however more. Major companies locating offices along major transport routes, for example reduces employees travel time.
Many actions take time, but they also take planning and a certain will to move in a certain direction.
